Today we are going to practice exploring different spaces around us in preparation for your coming ethnographies.
Today you will pick a spot on campus or nearby and you'll tweet your ethnographic notes.
- Go somewhere on campus or nearby with your phone, laptop, or tablet where you can access Twitter.
- Tweet your notes using concrete language! Your goal is to make use of those 140 characters. Use vivid imagery and practice "zooming in and out," meaning you want to take a look at what is around you up close, from a distance, and from different angles.
- Take pictures, if you can, and document your thoughts.
- But don't disclose your location. Your classmates will try to guess where you are by replying to your tweets.
- Observe this location for 30-40 minutes once you arrive.
- Aim for at least 30 tweets, which should be complete sentences. Use hashtag #Engl114B.
WINNER: The person who guesses the most locations will win a prize.
Good luck to all!
